Power

Power is the ability to structure attention on a scene to preserve the center.

Origin

Power does not originate in the exercise of force, but in the continuation of deferral by someone willing to take more risks and accept more suffering in order to accomplish some task. Most importantly, that person has to be able to stand both inside and outside the scene to modulate the desires and resentments of others who need to be brought into the scene. In doing so, the person becomes a center themselves.
