Aesthetics is the oscillation between desire and deferral. When something is desired but cannot be appropriated it is perceived as an aesthetic experience. But it’s not just that it can’t be appropriated, it’s also the social prohibition within the phenomenon of desire itself, this passing back and forth through experience of desire for the object and its repelling, that is the aesthetic experience.
