The Center is that which occupies the locus of attention and possesses the significance of the peripheral sign emitters within a scene: A Center as this locus of significance is where resentments focus and collect, and are ultimately deferred. It is both a target and product of Collective Intentionality, which means it kind of possesses its own Intentionality, speaking to us. The transcendental nature of the sign can be revealed in any discourse, which is another way of relocating the Center, all of human sociality past and present being a reiterated series of concentric centers, as each practice or sign is dependent upon a Center at a previous instant.

The center is both the cause and the product of the sign. It is a locus of attention and imperative exchange. It is an agency (that human agency is modeled on) that can issue imperatives and of which requests an be made.

The center contains all of the collective signifying capacities of the community. It is the origin of the community, the center of the communityIt is paradoxical. It establishes a hierarchy between itself and the periphery. The center has agency before humans have agency and our agency is modeled on the center.
